For the past few years I have been learning to speak German. I had studied it for four years in high school many years ago, but after a trip to Austria in 2002, I decided I wanted to relearn it. My goal was to be able to have a conversation in German and get around while traveling in German speaking countries.
The good news is that, although I couldn't be a translator, I am much more fluent than I ever was in high school and the learning process led me to several trips to Germany and Austria, many new German speaking friends, and the creation of a Stammtisch club in my town to bring German speakers together. I will use this page to track my activities involving German.
